General Advantages of the Janko Keyboard
The Janko keyboard is an alternative piano key layout that is isomorphic. This means that the keys are arranged in a regular pattern. As a result, intervals, chord shapes, and fingerings always have the same form – regardless of the key. Similar to a guitar, you can play a major chord shape and simply shift it to transpose it.
The Janko keyboard creates a clear relationship between the geometric distance of the keys and the musical distance of the notes. Its symmetry supports understanding of music theory and makes learning significantly easier. At the same time, it enhances muscle memory, since chords and scales remain identical in every key.
